Meet the Winners of the 2018 Stockport Business Awards

Last night Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants organised the seventh Stockport Business Awards held at the iconic Stockport Town Hall. Over 350 people attended the black tie awards dinner to celebrate the success and achievements of the region’s finest.  

TV presenter, Jenny Powell, hosted the awards for the second year running and did a fantastic job of keeping the excited crowd engaged for those all-important moments. SignPost Stockport for Carers were this year’s Charity Partner and raised over £4000 in the charity raffle to help support carers in the community.

Andrew Baggott, Managing Partner of Clarke Nicklin chartered accountants commented; “Yet again the night was a resounding success. The room was extremely vibrant and positive, with the Stockport business community celebrating some amazing winners and shortlisted companies. Stockport Business Awards – What to Expect on the Evening…

With the Stockport Business Awards only a few days away we look at what to expect on the evening:

The Venue

The Stockport Business Awards will be held at the iconic Stockport Town Hall in Central Stockport. The full address is Stockport Town Hall, Edward St, Stockport SK1 3XE. You will need to enter at the front of the building at the main front entrance. The venue has parking but vehicles should not be left over night.

The After Party 

Casino 36 will be hosting this years after party – they are based 36 St Petersgate, Stockport SK1 1HD – just around the corner form the Stockport Town Hall. They have organised a limited number of Taxi’s from the town hall to take guests to the Casino. they will be welcoming guests from 12.30am on wards and are offering a free drink and a free bet on arrival. The Venue is open 24/7 so perfect to carry on the celebrations until the early morning.

TV Presenter Jenny Powell to Host the Stockport Business Awards for the Second Year Running

Clarke Nicklin chartered accountants have enlisted TV Presenter Jenny Powell once again to host the Stockport Business Awards on Thursday 11th October. After the success of last year’s event Jenny, who lives in Cheshire, was invited back for a second time.

Jenny started her career in back in 1985 voicing the TV ads for the 6th and 7th volumes of the Now That’s What I Call Music! In 1989 Jenny was one of the presenter of Top of the Pops.

Her most memorable TV appearance was in 1995, when at just 26 – she became the hostess on ITV’s Wheel of Fortune.

She remained on the ITV show until 2000, starring alongside Nicky Campbell, Bradley Walsh and John Leslie during their presenting stints.

More recently, Jenny has fronted Soap Fever, Live Talk, Getaway and Our House for UKTV Style, and has been regular on ITV’s Loose Women.

She also presented BBC One’s To Buy or Not to Buy, and ITV’s s Bingo Night Live in June 2008.

She appeared as a contestant on Channel 4’s Celebrity Come Dine With Me back in 2010, and BBC One’s Celebrity Masterchef. In January 2018, she joined ITV’s Bigheads as a commentator. And participated in And They’re Off! in aid of Sport Relief.

Jenny is said to be “Looking forward to a glam and excessively fun night”

Meet the Organisers of the Stockport Business Awards

Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants, based in Cheadle, are the founders and organisers of the Stockport Business Awards, they held the first awards dinner back in 2012 and event has grown year on year. The annual awards dinner was set out to celebrate, recognise, reward and showcase the very best that Stockport has to offer.

Seven years ago when Clarke Nicklin first founded the event, the evening was held at the Hallmark Hotel, but with year on year growth and more businesses entering, the event was moved to larger premises – Stockport Town Hall. The Town Hall can accommodate up to 400 guests and is an iconic venue in the Stockport community, so the perfect venue for celebrating businesses from the local area.

From the beginning high profile entities from the region, Gorvins Solicitors and Orbit Developments, have been headline sponsors of the awards. This year they are joined by category sponsors, Handelsbanken, Marketing Stockport, Life Leisure, Ashcroft Creative Design, Stockport Council and Stockport Economic Alliance.

Charity Partner, Signpost Stockport for Carers, Hope to Win Big at this Year’s Stockport Business Awards

This year the Stockport Business Awards, organised by Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants, have partnered with charity, Signpost Stockport for Careers, to fund-raise on the evening of the awards. There were over 30 charity applications this year but Signpost Stockport for Carers blew the judges away with their entry.

One in six Stockport residents care, unpaid, for a loved one that could not manage without their support. That’s more than 32,000 people – colleagues, neighbours, friends and relatives – juggling a very physically demanding and emotional role alongside all of their other commitments.

Signpost Stockport for Carers believes that being a carer should not be a barrier to leading a fulfilling life, regardless of the carer’s age. Some are just six years old. They offer a range of services and events that are designed to give carers the support that they need to continue with their caring role.

This year the Stockport Business Awards is looking to raise £5000 to support the charity, which is equivalent to over 250 hours of respite for a carers. Signpost are asking everyone to be generous on the evening and donate just £20, there will be envelopes on the tables to make a donation. Everyone who donates will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win one of over 25 prizes up for grabs, these include hampers, champagne, vouchers, signed merchandise, nights away, dining experiences, and football packages.

Stockport Borough Council & Stockport Economic Alliance Support Innovation at this Years Stockport Business Awards

The Stockport Business Awards, organised and founded by Chartered Accountants Clarke Nicklin will once again be sponsored by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Stockport Economic Alliance. SMBC have the supported the event since the first Awards dinner back in October 2012. Seven years on and SMBC are still supporting the event alongside SEA. This year SMBC and SEA will be joint sponsoring the Innovation Award.

Marketing Stockport Support Stockport Business Awards for Sixth Year Running!

The Stockport Business Awards, organised and founded by Chartered Accountants Clarke Nicklin will be joined for the sixth year by Marketing Stockport.
