The Business Person of the Year Award is the award for an individual who has been instrumental in the success of a business. The category offers the opportunity for a business persons skills and ability to be highlighted either as a business owner or a senior/key member of the team. It will take into consideration the overall performance of the business over the last three years, and what it is believed makes the business person different.

To qualify, your business should not have been operating as a trading entity for more than 3 years. Entrants will have to demonstrate how the business has performed and what its future projections are. You will also be asked to explain the background to the business, the markets it operates in, the business vision and the research that was undertaken when the business was in development. By doing so you could receive the reward you deserve for successfully setting up your business.

The International Business of the Year about will go to a company which can demonstrate a good strategy in developing and sustaining international trading capability. The winner will need to show how operating internationally has had a positive impact on the success of the business. Any business based within Stockport engaged in export, import, outward or inward investment, regardless of industry sector, is eligible for this award.

The Best Not-for-Profit Organisation award will be given to a not-for-profit group or business which demonstrates all-round excellence and has a clear mission and purpose. The judging will focus on the organisations performance against aims, and will look at the planned future objectives.

Judges will look for evidence of how employees are engaged in strategic goals and company values. They will also look at investment in people, initiatives to create a more collaborative culture, and the impact this has had on commercial performance.

Case studies will help to show how a creative business has helped clients and examples of cost effective, viral or social media campaigns will help to paint a picture for the judges. Entrants may even wish to consider co-nominations where client and agency have worked well together to help to grow each other’s businesses.

When is the deadline for Entries?

The deadline is 5pm on Friday 27th May.

Can I enter for more than one category?

Yes, you can enter as many as you like.

Am I eligible to win?

You have to be based in the Stockport Borough.

Is there a word count limit?

There is no limit on word count but an ideal entry will be from 750 to 1250 words.

Is there another stage?

All applicable entrants will be required to attend a 15 minute meeting at the organisers premises on 5th or 6th June 2017.

Are supporting materials allowed to be submitted alongside my entry?

Only if they are inserted into the actual entry itself, not as an additional attachment.

When will the shortlisted be announced?

Judging takes place mid June. The shortlist will be announced soon after then, and you will be notified whether or not you have been shortlisted before it is publicly announced.
