We are delighted to reveal we have chosen Smart Works Greater Manchester (GM) as our Charity Partner for the 2020 awards.
Smart Works are a charity that provide high quality interview clothes and training to unemployed women in need, who have often been referred from organisations such as job centres, care homes, homeless shelters and mental health charities.
Not only do Smart Works offer invaluable training and styling advice, they also give women the confidence and self-belief to succeed at their interview and, ultimately, transform their life.
Jan Iceton, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Smart Works GM commented “We found out today that Smart Works Greater Manchester has been selected as Charity Partner at the Stockport Business Awards, on the same day as we analysed that 88% of the women we supported during 2019/20 got a job within a month of visiting our centre. It has been a wonderful day to remember during these challenging days. We are committed to being front and centre in the Stockport community and can’t wait to celebrate soon with all of the amazing people and organisations who exist in our local area, we thank you for thinking of us.”
Since opening their doors in Stockport in 2015, Smart Works GM have supported over 1800 women from every borough of Greater Manchester. They have just secured another five years’ in Stockport and will be celebrating their fifth birthday this year.
Laura Frost, Marketing Manager for Clarke Nicklin, commented “We’re delighted that Smart Works are our charity partner this year and are looking forward to working with them and supporting them going forward. It’s also a very exciting year for them celebrating their fifth year established in Stockport, so we’re glad to be a part of it.”
All of the Smart Works service delivery is provided by fully trained volunteers and all stock is kindly donated through other working women, or directly from Smart Works’ retail partners such as Hobbs, Next, Whistles, Evans, Marks & Spencer and John Lewis & Partners.
