10th Stockport Business Awards raise over £3000 for charity partners

Generous donations from attendees at the 10th Stockport Business Awards on 30th September 2020 have helped raise over £3000 for charity partners, Smart Works and Stockport NHS Charity.

Founders and organisers of the awards, Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants, have confirmed the amount be split between the two organisations, which includes the £1050 raised in the auction of a Mulberry bag, kindly donated by Smart Works for the event.

Smart Works were originally chosen to be the 2020 charity partner but due to the pandemic, the awards were cancelled until 2021 for Stockport Business Awards’ 10th anniversary. Not only do Smart Works provide high quality interview clothes to women in need, but they also offer invaluable training and styling advice which give women the confidence and self-belief to succeed at their interview and, ultimately, transform their life.

Alison Lever, Trustee at Smart Works, commented:

“It was a huge honour to be a Charity Partner at the 10th Stockport Business Awards and to have an opportunity to update the local business community on the Smart Works’ support for unemployed women looking for work. We are very grateful for the generosity of everyone attending the awards. We rely on donations and grants to keep the doors of our Stockport Centre open and will be using the funds raised to continue to help more job seekers to ‘Get the Clothes, Get the Confidence, Get the Job’.”

Stockport NHS Charity exists to improve the health and wellbeing of patients by delivering services above and beyond ordinary standards. Fundraising helps them to achieve this through enhanced medical equipment, improved staff performance, development and wellbeing and advanced research programmes.

John Graham, Director of Finance and Deputy Chief Executive for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust added:

“We are very grateful for the generous donation which our Stockport NHS Charity has received from Stockport Business Awards. This money will go towards various wellbeing projects for our staff to support their own health as they care for others. A huge thank you to all who donated.”

Charity partner applications for Stockport Business Awards 2022 will open at the start of next year, and organisations can register their interest and receive updates by contacting Clarke Nicklin Marketing Executive, Alice Atkinson.
