This week’s Sponsor Spotlight is our headline sponsors sponsoring the Business of the Year (Turnover £1-£5million) Gorvins Solicitors. We are proud to say Gorvins have supported and sponsored Stockport Business Awards since we first begun, making this year their 10th year of being sponsors. Check out what they had to say about sponsoring our 10th anniversary below.
This week’s #SponsorSpotlight features founders, organisers and main sponsors of the awards, Clarke Nicklin. Managing Partner of Clarke Nicklin, Andrew Baggott, explains in this video just how far the Stockport Business Awards have came within the past 10-12 years in the making. And it’s only getting stronger, bigger and better than ever!
Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants are based in Cheadle, Stockport. Servicing clients all over the UK and internationally, the team offer a range of services to help businesses reach their goals.
This week’s Sponsor Spotlight belongs to Edgeley Park – Stockport’s premier conference & events venue. Edgeley Park is one of the most historic sports stadiums in the country, holding many memorable moments for generations of County fans, as well as the Stockport community.
Therefore, it is very apt that Edgeley Park are sponsoring our Stockport Award – championing all things Stockport.

They support businesses at all stages of growth, and provide a variety of services that are mostly fully-funded, from one-to-one and peer-to-peer business support, to events, specialist programmes, funding and more.
Liam Connors, Stockport Account Manager for the Business Growth Hub, said: “We’re incredibly proud that we are taking the opportunity to celebrate the success of Stockport Businesses and sponsoring the Employer of the Year Award, we are looking forward to celebrating on the night.”
This weeks Sponsor Spotlight is Sage UK
Sage UK is the “market leader for integrated accounting, payroll and payment systems, supporting the ambition of the world’s entrepreneurs”.
Chris Downing, Director of Product Marketing at Sage UK commented:
“We are delighted to be a part of the 10th Stockport Business Awards and sponsoring the Most Promising Young Business Award, the entrepreneurial spirit and vision to grow, build and nurture a business has never been tested as much as it has been over the past year, however, is great to see new businesses flourish despite exceptional challenges and recognising their success in these awards.”
Founders and organisers, Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants, are delighted to announce this year’s charity partners are Smart Works and Stockport NHS Charity. It’s a first for the awards supporting two charities this year and all part of making this year’s 10th year anniversary awards the best yet.
Smart Works were originally chosen to be the 2020 charity partner but due to the pandemic, the awards were cancelled.
Smart Works are a charity that provide high quality interview clothes and training to unemployed women in need, who have often been referred from organisations such as job centres, care homes, homeless shelters and mental health charities.
Not only do Smart Works offer invaluable training and styling advice, they also give women the confidence and self-belief to succeed at their interview and, ultimately, transform their life.
Jan Iceton, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Smart Works commented “Smart Works Greater Manchester is delighted to be Stockport Business Awards 2021 Charity Partner. We have been based in Stockport for almost 6 years, in that time delivering over 3,000 client appointments to unemployed women from local communities and being supported by over 12,000 volunteer hours. It will be simply joyful to celebrate the achievements and resilience of people and organisations across the Borough once again.”
Stockport NHS Charity exists to improve the health and wellbeing of patients by delivering services above and beyond ordinary standards. Their aim is to help patients get better quicker and stay well for longer. Fundraising helps them to achieve this through enhanced medical equipment, improved staff performance, development and wellbeing and advanced research programmes.
Charity Manager, Jenny Clarke, Commented “Stockport NHS Charity is over the moon to be chosen as a charity partner for the Stockport Business Awards. Over the past year we’ve seen how amazing the Stockport business community is, with so many organisations going above and beyond to support our vital work, so now we’re delighted to be able to support theirs.”
The Stockport Business Awards team is now appealing to businesses within the borough to once again donate a prize for the charity raffle on the evening. If you would like to donate prize please email email@example.com.
